Elephant Park: Park Advisory Group

31 July 2014

As part of Lend Lease’s plans for Elephant Park, we have committed to deliver a brand new park right in the centre of the development. On top of this, we also said that we would establish a Park Advisory Group, which will play a key role in advising on the design and future management of the Park.

The Park Advisory Group has now been set-up, comprising three members representing the views of the local community, three representatives from Southwark Council, and three representatives from Lend Lease. The full list of members can be found below:

  • Diana Cochrane – Community Member, Walworth Society and Pullens T&RA
  • Colin Turnbull – Community Member, Mosaic Housing Residents’ Association
  • Peter Wright – Community Member, BATRA and East Walworth Green Links
  • John Wade – Principal Service Development Manager, Parks and Leisure, Southwark Council
  • Councillor Martin Seaton – East Walworth Ward Councillor & Chair of Borough, Bankside and Walworth Community Council
  • Councillor Mark Williams – Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Planning and Transport, Southwark Council
  • Sophie Bevington – Community Development Manager, Lend Lease
  • Andrew Chorley – Head of Commercial Operation, Lend Lease
  • Elizabeth Randall – Development Project Manager, Lend Lease

The opportunity for members of the local community to sit-on the Park Advisory Group was widely publicised. Those members of the community who had expressed an interest in joining then attended a meeting on Tuesday 9th September where they discussed and mutually agreed the three people best placed to represent the wider community.

The Park Advisory Group’s work will run alongside a wider process of consultation and engagement for the design of the Park, and members will be encouraged to act as a conduit between the Park Advisory Group and the wider programme of events planned.

It is anticipated that the Park Advisory Group will be in place until at least December 2015 and meetings will be held at least quarterly. The minutes and presentations from these meetings will be published below:
